Laboratory Technician – PCB Materials

Huntsman Advanced Materials seeks a Laboratory Technician in Basel to support the development of thermoset materials for PCBs through formulation, testing, and data analysis.

This position sits within the Technology Department of the Advanced Materials division at the Innovation Center in Basel. The primary focus is on laboratory-based work that aids in creating advanced thermoset solutions for printed circuit boards and electronics. The role demands a practical, detail-oriented professional who thrives on formulation tasks, material characterization, and structured data interpretation within an innovation-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Conducting lab-scale formulation trials for filled polymers and performing material characterization tests to drive product innovation.
• Planning and coordinating laboratory activities with internal teams to ensure timely completion of tasks aligned with business goals.
• Systematically documenting experimental procedures and preparing technical reports based on test results.
• Managing the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment according to quality standards and updating relevant documentation.
• Maintaining inventory of chemicals and materials, as well as preparing and shipping customer samples.
• Applying data-driven methodologies to experimental work to ensure high-quality data generation and reliable result interpretation.
• Ensuring all laboratory activities adhere to Environment, Health and Safety protocols, Ethics & Compliance standards, and International Trade Compliance guidelines.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry or engineering, or a completed laboratory technician apprenticeship.
• Minimum of three years of experience in processing or formulating polymeric materials.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Practical experience with material testing and characterization techniques.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with epoxy and acrylate components, inorganic-filled formulations, or PCB materials and their processing.
• Familiarity with data analysis platforms.
• Knowledge of an additional language.
