Lead AI Engineer (Agentic AI)

Visium SA · Lausanne

Visium seeks a Lead AI Engineer to own and evolve the agentic layer powering its products, focusing on production-grade AI systems in life sciences. Based in Lausanne, this full-time hybrid role requires expertise in Python, agentic frameworks, RAG, and MLOps, with a strong emphasis on reliability and real-world impact.

This senior engineering role centers on developing and maintaining the agentic layer that drives Visium’s products, including multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and workflow engines. It is a production-focused position, not research, requiring foundational architecture decisions and collaboration with product and leadership to shape technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement multi-agent systems using Agno, LangChain, and LangGraph
  • Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Python and FastAPI
  • Manage agent orchestration, including task routing, tool integration, state handling, and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Create RAG pipelines for domain-specific data with strict accuracy, traceability, and compliance standards
  • Make production-ready choices for LLM integration, prompting, and reliability patterns
  • Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, and deployment of agentic systems
  • Own features from concept to production, ensuring end-to-end delivery
  • Guide and mentor engineers as the team expands, shaping engineering culture
  • Work closely with product and leadership to influence the technical roadmap

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Python engineer shipping production systems, not just prototypes
  • Practical experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Agno
  • Strong understanding of LLMs in production: prompting, tool use, orchestration, and failure handling
  • Hands-on experience building RAG systems, including retrieval design, vector databases, embedding methods, and evaluation
  • Familiarity with agent evaluation and observability tools like LangSmith, for tracing and debugging multi-agent interactions
  • Comfortable working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and designing distributed systems
  • Experience with MLOps practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, and deployment pipelines
  • Autonomous, collaborative, and committed to high-quality engineering outcomes
  • Motivated by building AI systems with real-world consequences, especially in regulated domains

Nice to have

  • Background in life sciences, regulated industries, or GxP-compliant environments
  • Experience with multi-agent systems and workflow orchestration
