Comet seeks a Senior Materials & Vacuum Physics Expert in Flamatt to develop vacuum capacitor materials for plasma control technologies in a hybrid role.
This position sits within the Plasma Control Technologies division at the Flamatt site. The team produces specialized components that enable precise control of plasma processes for memory chips and touch screens. The expert will bridge laboratory research with engineering applications to advance these critical technologies.
Responsibilities
- Create and test materials for vacuum capacitor components used in high-voltage RF contexts.
- Direct technology studies, experimental setups, and data-driven analyses.
- Investigate vacuum breakdown mechanisms to enhance material performance.
- Conduct material characterization, with a focus on ceramics and copper.
- Engage in hands-on laboratory work to convert findings into practical engineering solutions.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in materials, R&D, or engineering sectors.
- Deep knowledge of materials behavior, vacuum technology, or high-voltage/RF applications.
- Practical experience in material characterization and failure investigation.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
