Mechanical Design Engineer – Systems

AMAC Aerospace seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for Systems in Basel to lead ECS modifications and related aircraft system designs in an on-site, mid-level role.

This position focuses on engineering modifications for Environmental Control Systems and other aircraft subsystems. Responsibilities

  • Engineer modifications for ECS, including heating, cooling, humidification, soundproofing, oxygen supply, smoke detection, and water/waste systems, alongside necessary structural and interior updates.
  • Create 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD tools.
  • Select appropriate components, materials, and equipment for designs.
  • Draft technical documentation, including reports, analysis results, test procedures, and installation guides.
  • Establish and maintain engineering design standards.
  • Apply relevant certification bases, rules, regulations, and means of compliance to all engineering outputs.
  • Facilitate clear communication with internal engineering teams and external partners.
  • Assist the Team Leader Mechanical Design Engineering with administrative and organizational duties.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong grasp of physics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, aerospace technology, and materials science.
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and 2D/3D design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • High attention to detail, with a strong focus on safety and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Nice to have

  • Basic understanding of acoustics.
  • Additional language skills in French and/or German.
