Bühlergroup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Development Engineer for its Grain Division in Switzerland. The role involves equipment design, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive product innovation and efficiency.

Within the Grain Division, this position focuses on the mechanical development of processing equipment. The engineer will handle the full lifecycle of product design, from initial 3D modeling and drawing creation to prototype testing and manufacturing support, ensuring solutions meet market competitiveness and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily equipment maintenance and management following the M2M process to sustain market competitiveness.
  • Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings, and perform design optimizations using gPDM (Windchill) and Inventor.
  • Lead foreign technology transfer projects, including localizing drawings and tracking equipment manufacturing.
  • Manage technical aspects of product changes, production documentation, drawings, and master data.
  • Drive product upgrades, design quality enhancements, and optimization initiatives.
  • Assess opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Coordinate with customers, headquarters, and internal departments.
  • Support complete equipment development by designing specific components or parts.
  • Work with manufacturing process technicians to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Communicate with supply chain and external suppliers regarding new components (e.g., castings, sheet metal) and conduct first-sample acceptance.
  • Monitor manufacturing and quality control of assigned equipment or components, identifying and resolving issues.
  • Perform hands-on assembly of prototype equipment or components, identifying and improving issues.
  • Conduct material-loaded testing of prototypes in internal test centers or at customer sites, identifying and improving issues.
  • Draft and upgrade relevant design documents.
  • Track new product market promotion and improve based on usage and customer feedback.
  • Comply with national EHS laws and regulations and Bühler's EHS management regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation.
  • 6+ years of mechanical design experience for bachelor's degree holders.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience for master's degree holders.
  • Good professional mechanical design qualities.
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD design software (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
  • Good English reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Good product innovation, quality control, and cost awareness.
  • Honest, reliable, proactive, and responsible work attitude.
  • Team spirit and good cross-departmental collaboration and communication skills.
