Jet Aviation seeks a Mid-level Mechanical Engineer in Basel to design custom mechanical solutions for VIP, Maintenance, and Governmental aviation projects, ensuring compliance and manufacturability.
This position focuses on delivering tailored mechanical engineering solutions for high-end aviation projects, including Maintenance, Completion, and Governmental work. The engineer transforms specific customer needs into robust, certifiable designs while operating within a collaborative, international team setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical engineering tasks for various project types, spanning from initial quotation through to final delivery.
- Gather technical specifications, define project scope, and assist in preparing cost estimates.
- Conduct on-site aircraft surveys to capture dimensions, photographs, and 3D scan data.
- Define mechanical design principles and system architectures for ATA chapters 21, 35, and 38 during early project phases.
- Produce and update 3D models and 2D drawings for parts and assemblies, adhering to quality standards and engineering guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure designs are compliant, robust, and ready for manufacturing.
- Implement engineering standards, apply lessons learned, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Identify potential risks, report obstacles, and resolve discrepancies between actual work and project requirements.
- Support testing activities, prepare necessary reports, and contribute to certification documentation.
- Lead mechanical workstreams on assigned projects and serve as a checker, releaser, or backup to the Mechanical Leader as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of professional experience in mechanical engineering within the VIP aviation sector.
- High proficiency in CAE and CAD software, specifically AutoCAD, Siemens NX, TeamCenter, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, engineering workflows, and interface management.
- Fluent command of the English language.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in leadership roles or project coordination.
- Fluency in French and/or German.
