Junior Mechanical Engineer

ARTIDIS seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer in Basel to handle end-to-end mechanical design, prototyping, and documentation for medical hardware products.

As part of the hardware team, this position focuses on the full lifecycle of mechanical product development. The engineer is responsible for creating designs, building prototypes, and ensuring all work meets project specifications and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Generate 3D models and mechanical drawings using Autodesk Inventor based on engineering needs.
• Produce detailed technical layouts for components and assemblies.
• Verify that all designs comply with ISO GPS standards.
• Work with mechatronics and engineering groups to integrate mechanical parts into larger systems.
• Build mechanical prototypes to validate functionality.
• Conduct and assist with design verification tests.
• Join design reviews to offer feedback and improvement ideas.
• Update designs according to review feedback.
• Keep clear and accurate records of design processes and revisions.
• Ensure adherence to medical device regulations.
• Help move designs from development into manufacturing.
• Communicate regularly with suppliers.
• Maintain and troubleshoot prototypes to keep them operational.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Understanding of ISO GPS standards.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with machined parts, welded assemblies, and 3D-printed plastic or metal components.
• Skill in creating precise technical drawings with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team and communicate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Capability to troubleshoot and maintain prototypes.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and techniques.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
