Synova seeks an Opto-Mechanical Engineer in Duillier to design and test optical components for its Laser MicroJet® systems. The role requires mechanical design expertise, SolidWorks proficiency, and fluency in French and English.
The company is looking for a mid-level engineer to handle the mechanical design of optical components and assemblies for its patented Laser MicroJet® technology. This position supports the creation of high-precision laser machine tools used across various high-tech sectors, ensuring that optical systems meet strict quality and reliability standards from concept through to production.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for optical parts and assemblies, progressing from initial concepts to detailed production drawings.
- Construct, assemble, and test optical prototypes within the laboratory environment.
- Maintain accurate and complete Bills of Materials (BOM) for laser machines and optical assemblies to support sales and manufacturing.
- Generate and update 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and assembly documentation using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with purchasing teams and suppliers to ensure specifications, costs, and delivery timelines are met.
- Provide technical support during the build, integration, and alignment phases of optical systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, optical/photonics engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks being the preferred tool.
- Practical knowledge of optics and opto-mechanical assemblies, including mounting, alignment, and tolerancing of optical components.
- Fluent proficiency in both French and English.
- Possession of Swiss nationality or a valid Swiss work permit.
Nice to have
- Prior experience managing Bills of Materials (BOM) and utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Working knowledge of the German language.
