Debiopharm seeks a Senior Data Platform Engineer in Lausanne to design and maintain GxP-compliant data platforms, integrating frontend/backend development with cloud infrastructure and clinical data systems.
This permanent, full-time position is dedicated to converting raw data into actionable medical solutions. The engineer will architect, automate, and sustain the core data infrastructure that supports company-wide analytics and statistical computing. Serving as the primary technical resource, the role ensures these global platforms remain reliable, secure, and efficient within a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy production-ready frontend and backend applications for internal tools and integrations.
- Oversee CI/CD processes on Azure DevOps, managing version control, testing, reviews, and documentation.
- Maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep to ensure a single source of truth for all environments.
- Apply strong software engineering principles to enhance operational efficiency and developer productivity.
- Support central data repositories and pipelines that feed analytical solutions from Medidata and other clinical sources.
- Partner with Data Management, Biostatistics, and Data Science teams to refine data architecture and quality.
- Administer SAS Viya 4 on Kubernetes (AKS), handling automation, upgrades, and serving as the technical reference.
- Manage Medidata as the system owner, including user access, configuration, releases, and vendor coordination.
- Ensure platform availability, performance, and GxP qualification under strict change control.
- Implement observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management.
- Run secure, cost-aware cloud workloads, strengthening security posture and FinOps practices.
- Adhere to SOPs and provide CSV documentation, such as IQ and OQ, for owned platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of experience in full-stack software engineering, infrastructure, and delivering production systems with clean code and CI/CD (Azure DevOps).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) with solution design skills.
- Experience with databases, data engineering, SQL, data modeling, and pipelines for clinical and analytics data.
- Fluent English and a good working knowledge of French.
- Residence in the Lausanne region or willingness to relocate for this on-site role.
Nice to have
- Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, CKA/CKAD) or a commitment to obtaining them.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with production Kubernetes environments like AKS or EKS.
- Administrative experience with SAS Viya 4 and Medidata (Rave).
- Background in regulated environments, including GxP, CSV, change control, and audit trails.
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
