The Laboratory for the Chemistry of Materials and Manufacturing (ALCHEMY) at EPFL Neuchâtel is seeking a full-time PhD student to design and implement novel photocrosslinking strategies for vat photopolymerization. The role centers on creating accessible chemistries and processing methods to fabricate advanced functional materials and devices, with a specific emphasis on non-acrylate, non-thiol-ene systems and recyclable resins.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire dissertation process independently.
- Plan and conduct laboratory experiments.
- Evaluate and interpret data from experimental work.
- Draft and submit scientific papers for peer-reviewed journals.
- Deliver presentations at global conferences.
- Engage in teaching activities and mentor student projects.
- Create photocrosslinking strategies that avoid acrylates and thiol-ene chemistries.
- Formulate recyclable resins suitable for vat photopolymerization.
- Investigate high-viscosity printing techniques using volumetric printing methods.
Requirements
- Hold a Master of Science degree in materials science, chemistry, or polymer science.
- Demonstrate practical experience in polymer characterization.
- Possess excellent English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Background in small-molecule and/or polymer synthesis.
- Prior experience with vat photopolymerization techniques.
