The position is located within Empa's Laboratory Materials for Energy Conversion, a division of the ETH Domain that develops materials and devices for sustainable energy. As part of the NCCR Muoniverse project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the role focuses on advancing solid-state battery technology through advanced characterization methods.
Responsibilities
- Investigate lithium- and sodium-based solid-state batteries using muon-based characterization techniques.
- Explore electrochemical performance mechanisms, including ion distribution, transport, and degradation.
- Design and execute experiments to uncover reaction pathways and degradation processes.
- Analyze complex datasets to link microscopic behaviors with macroscopic battery performance.
- Collaborate with project partners to support the development and testing of materials and cell concepts.
- Independently conduct experiments, including muon beamline studies.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners.
- Disseminate results through publications and presentations.
Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
- Excellent English skills are required.
Nice to have
- Experience in electrochemistry or batteries is an advantage.
