Power Transmission Line Engineer 9552

Mott MacDonald seeks a Power Transmission Line Engineer to lead technical design, calculations, and drawings for power line projects, ensuring compliance and quality in a hybrid role.

This position serves as the primary discipline design engineer responsible for developing technical specifications, performing calculations, and creating drawings for power line projects. The role requires the ability to independently learn new concepts and utilize specialized software to support project design while monitoring progress to meet schedule and budget targets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work complies with relevant federal, state, regional, and local regulations, including state administrative codes, NESC, NES, and RUS.
• Utilize manual line design techniques and the Power Line Systems (PLS) software suite for modeling, procedures, and standards.
• Follow client specifications and Mott MacDonald's internal project procedures.
• Collaborate with project engineers, managers, and supervisors to develop project deliverables such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Perform engineering work and support in a technically sound manner, adhering to project procedures and contract requirements.
• Oversee the quality and compliance of all deliverables.
• Review deliverables to ensure consistency, technical soundness, and compliance.
• Apply engineering and technical skills to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor personal work activities effectively.
• Produce accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Continuously improve job-related, engineering, technical, and professional knowledge and performance.
• Maintain accurate records and files.

Requirements

• At least three years of industry experience.
• Authorization to apply for and obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) License within two years.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred; other engineering disciplines may be considered.
• Experience in power system design for electrical alternating current (AC) underground and overhead lines.
• Experience in power system design for high voltage and extra high voltage direct current (DC) overhead and underground lines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not required.
• Passing score on the Engineer in Training (EIT) exam is preferred.
• Experience with renewables is strongly desired.
