Cavotec seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of Shore Power and Motorized Cable Reel systems, driving technical solutions for industrial and maritime clients.

This position is a key component of the Cavotec Group’s global expansion, requiring the candidate to join a dedicated team of electrical and control engineers. The primary focus is on leading the electrical design and development of Shore Power and Motorized Cable Reel systems tailored for industrial and maritime sectors, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective engineering outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the independent design of electrical equipment, creating reliable and economical technical solutions for clients.
  • Produce and oversee electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of materials.
  • Choose, code, and verify electrical components using both technical and commercial standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and systems to collect essential project information.
  • Contribute to product optimization and support ongoing order fulfillment.
  • Build scalable structures to automate the generation of design documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with international standards (such as IEC, UL, and CSA) by managing certified external suppliers.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure designs meet operational and mechanical constraints.
  • Offer technical assistance during assembly, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including performance level calculations and system functional descriptions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to sub-systems.
  • Guide sub-suppliers through the production process.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical design, particularly within mobile or rotating systems.
  • Deep expertise with Variable Frequency Drives from brands like ABB, Siemens, Vacon, or Yaskawa.
  • Knowledge of fieldbus protocols including Modbus, Profibus, CANopen, and EtherCAT.
  • Hands-on experience in drive programming and parameterization.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software, with Zuken E3 preferred, though ePlan or SPAC are acceptable.
  • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent communication abilities and strong documentation practices.
  • A solution-oriented mindset with a focus on organization and timely results delivery.
