Cavotec seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead product development and design within the Connectors Team, managing the full lifecycle from concept to production.
This position sits within the Connectors Team and focuses on creating new solutions while overseeing active product lines. The engineer will drive innovation from initial concept through to manufacturing, ensuring products meet technical, commercial, and sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire lifecycle of catalog products by working closely with production and service departments.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including 3D/2D drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design functional and sustainable product solutions, moving from sketches and CAD models to physical prototypes.
- Conduct feasibility studies to align product designs with customer requirements and business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define and finalize product specifications.
- Perform design validation through simulations, testing, and FEM analysis.
- Optimize designs for performance, cost, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
- Resolve technical issues and support suppliers and internal production teams during manufacturing.
- Stay current with advancements in materials, manufacturing techniques, and design trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of experience in product development and design engineering.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks or equivalent tools.
- Ability to conduct FEM analysis or coordinate with external consultants for design validation.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, and casting.
- Knowledge of materials like plastics, rubbers, and metals, with experience in material selection.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM/ERP systems, specifically SolidWorks PDM and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
- Skill in physical prototyping and model-making techniques.
- Ability to select appropriate off-the-shelf components for specific applications.
- Fluent proficiency in spoken and written English.

- Experience with surface treatments and coatings.
