Cavotec seeks a Testing & Certification Engineer to validate electromechanical systems for industrial applications, ensuring compliance with global safety standards and managing product certification.
This role focuses on the rigorous testing and validation of electrification and automation solutions deployed in ports, airports, and heavy industry. The engineer ensures that products meet international performance benchmarks while guiding them through the necessary certification processes for market release.
Responsibilities
- Execute test plans for new and existing products, including functional, mechanical, electrical, and environmental validations.
- Define test equipment, procedures, and conditions to ensure reliable and comprehensive testing outcomes.
- Program, configure, and parametrize Variable Frequency Drives from major manufacturers.
- Create technical project documentation and detailed test reports.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Design instrumentation diagrams in coordination with software developers, mechanical engineers, and suppliers.
- Analyze test data to identify deviations and work with design teams to resolve issues and optimize performance.
- Manage the certification process with third-party labs and notified bodies, maintaining all required technical files.
- Support engineering and quality teams during design reviews, FMEA sessions, and root cause analyses.
- Ensure all products comply with relevant regulatory standards such as IEC, ISO, UL, CE, EMC, LVD, and the Machinery Directive.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in testing electromechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.
- Ability to read and create electrical diagrams and LV control panel schematics.
- Proficiency in selecting appropriate sensors and actuators based on project specifications.
- Hands-on experience with low voltage switchgears and control panels.
- Experience programming motor drives (e.g., ABB, Siemens, Vacon-Danfoss, Yaskawa) and setting parameters.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for sensors, actuators, and drive systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and risk analysis methods like FMEA, SIL, and PL.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and marking processes (CE/UKCA).
- Fluency in Italian and a good command of English.
Nice to have
- Understanding of hydraulics diagrams.
- Knowledge of LV/MV power switchgears.
