Cavotec seeks a Proposal & Project Engineer to bridge technical expertise with business development, preparing accurate proposals and supporting the full project cycle in a hybrid role based in Switzerland.
This position connects engineering knowledge with commercial strategy to ensure that all bids are precise, competitive, and aligned with the company’s objectives. The engineer is tasked with managing the end-to-end preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals, ensuring they satisfy both client needs and internal standards.
Responsibilities
- Guide internal teams and external clients through every stage of the project lifecycle using deep product and application knowledge.
- Deliver technical sales assistance from the initial inquiry through to final delivery, including quotation, order acquisition, and handover to services.
- Act as a technical resource for both customers and the sales department.
- Evaluate and aggregate specific customer requirements.
- Select and configure appropriate product groups based on provided application data.
- Calculate costs and determine lead times for designated product lines.
- Offer ongoing support to the sales team during the tendering process.
- Manage the comprehensive handover of orders to Center of Excellence (CoE) functions.
- Provide continuous assistance to sales and CoE teams during order processing.
- Offer backup support for product groups or areas outside of primary assignments.
- Assist in the selection of suppliers.
- Facilitate customer acceptance procedures, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Operation & Maintenance manuals.
- Support the transition to service teams, handling claims and spare parts logistics.
Requirements
- Completion of high school education.
- Minimum of two years of experience in roles such as Technical Sales Engineer, Proposal Engineer, or Application Engineer within a B2B environment.
- Educational background in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Solid understanding of order management workflows.
- Familiarity with B2B commerce principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Salesforce, and Office tools.
Nice to have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Fluency in Italian, both written and spoken.
