Senior Project Planner

Mott MacDonald seeks a Senior Project Planner to develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, supporting global delivery operations.

This position operates within the Global Delivery Services Centre, a key unit focused on improving project execution worldwide. The role assists projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial concept to final delivery, while adhering to international design standards to guarantee quality and innovation. It requires a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop project timelines that satisfy contractual obligations for diverse clients across various sectors, utilizing Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Guarantee that all generated schedules align completely with the agreed scope and budget estimates through the creation of Work Breakdown Structures and resource profiles.
• Combine schedule constraints and requirements to define work sequences for all disciplines, securing necessary approvals from relevant parties.
• Spearhead the creation of the baseline schedule, guiding stakeholders through the approval process to establish it as a formal contractual document.
• Keep project schedules current and collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to review status updates.
• Organize and lead project meetings, offering expert advice on scheduling matters and strategic recommendations.
• Validate reported progress, track schedule variances, and suggest corrective measures to resolve emerging issues.
• Generate and finalize progress reports, including S Curves, Critical Path analysis, Milestone Tracking, Float Path, and Earned Value management data.
• Produce detailed Schedule Update Reports covering progress, variances, and mitigation strategies, while updating lookahead schedules to align with project goals.
• Evaluate the impact of proposed and approved changes on project timelines.
• Work with Project Control and Management teams to support cost planning and cash flow reporting.
• Configure and manage enterprise data within project schedules to ensure consistency with external systems, budgets, and material requirements.
• Offer professional guidance on project planning methodologies and industry best practices.
• Execute thorough schedule integrity reviews for internal and external clients, documenting findings and creating action plans to address identified issues.
• Conduct Schedule Assurance activities, both internally and externally, developing comprehensive action plans to address scheduling concerns, either directly or through third-party collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 9 to 12 years of professional experience.
• Extensive proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated success in remotely managing multiple complex projects and priorities.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Significant experience in a professional planning or scheduling role.
• In-depth knowledge of advanced project management principles and practices.
• Familiarity with other project management software tools.
• Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP).
