Procurement Category Manager (Drug Product) - 12 Month Contract

Roche seeks a Senior Procurement Category Manager for Drug Products on a 12-month contract in Basel. The role focuses on global strategy development, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration within External Manufacturing Services.

This position sits within the Category Management team of External Manufacturing Services, operating on a global scale. The primary purpose is to identify strategic opportunities and work closely with regional Procurement functions to develop and lead category initiatives that align with top-down targets.

Responsibilities

  • Create the Drug Product and Finished Goods strategy along with the annual initiative pipeline by analyzing market trends, supplier data, and internal metrics.
  • Execute strategic category initiatives to meet organizational targets while ensuring strict adherence to company policies and directives.
  • Produce and update practical category buying guides that translate high-level strategies into actionable guidance for stakeholders.
  • Provide inputs for the Procurement Balanced Scorecard, ensuring accurate reporting of metrics, savings targets, and spend data.
  • Manage supplier relationships through continuous improvement, risk mitigation, value creation target setting, and regular performance reviews.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams including Finance, Quality, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Legal, and Technical Product Leaders.
  • Support the harmonization of processes and technologies across global category teams, coach procurement staff, and represent the Global Category Leader in planning sessions.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of category management and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) specifically within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Prior experience in procurement related to the external manufacturing of drug products.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build trusted relationships across global functions.
  • Proven capability in managing complex supplier relationships, including risk assessments, CSR evaluations, contract compliance, and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in gathering complex market and business data to build category strategies, pipeline initiatives, and performance reports.
  • Experience in coaching and developing project resources and procurement staff, driving efficiency and technology adoption across global teams.
