Tecan Group AG seeks a Senior Product Environmental Compliance Manager in Switzerland to lead global compliance with environmental regulations, manage regulatory projects, and support cross-functional teams. The role requires expertise in product stewardship, regulatory standards, and project management in a hybrid work model.
This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert for product environmental compliance at Tecan, ensuring adherence to global regulations. The position involves leading regulatory initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and shaping the company’s compliance strategies for regulated substances and extended producer responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Implement Tecan’s global standard operating procedures for compliance with environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH, POP, TSCA, Conflict Minerals, WEEE, batteries, packaging), including gathering supplier declarations and preparing compliance documentation
- Lead and manage complex regulatory projects, such as RoHS 6b and PFAS, ensuring efficient prioritization and execution
- Oversee the global product environmental compliance database, including data maintenance and use of compliance software
- Ensure compliance with local extended producer responsibility requirements (WEEE, packaging, batteries), including registrations and reporting
- Monitor global regulatory developments and support the creation of long-term compliance strategies
- Assist in evaluating new regulations, identifying early risks, and designing mitigation approaches
- Act as a technical expert for senior management and cross-functional teams, addressing internal and external compliance inquiries
- Deliver training on environmental compliance topics and conduct internal audits
- Maintain clear compliance reporting and coordinate the issuance of compliance certificates and Critical Mineral reports
- Represent Tecan in trade associations to align with industry standards
Requirements
- A higher education degree in a scientific or engineering field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product stewardship or environmental regulations, ideally in the MedTech sector
- Proven experience in implementing complex environmental compliance requirements
- Knowledge of key regulations including RoHS, REACH, POP, PFAS, WEEE, Batteries, and Packaging
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and German
- Project management experience within a matrix organization
- Experience in material management, particularly with SAP
- Practical, solution-oriented approach with a sense of urgency and a history of meeting deadlines
- Ability to manage priorities effectively
- Willingness to travel internationally (less than 10%)
