Project Manager

Almatech SA seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end space engineering projects for ESA and industry partners, ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery of complex systems.

The company is looking for an experienced professional to oversee the full lifecycle of high-level space engineering initiatives. This role involves guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions that meet strict quality, schedule, and financial targets for major stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage project performance and reporting for both internal leadership and external clients.
• Define project goals, deliverables, cost estimates, and completion forecasts.
• Establish project baselines, including specifications, resource needs, milestones, and deadlines.
• Direct all project phases from initiation to final handover, coordinating across engineering, production, and quality departments.
• Foster strong, professional relationships with key customers.
• Ensure clear communication within the team to maintain motivation and alignment with project goals.
• Oversee daily project execution, including configuration management and financial controlling.
• Conduct internal and external progress reviews to guarantee adherence to time, budget, and quality standards.
• Monitor scope changes and collaborate with the Contract Officer to manage claims and contract adjustments.
• Assist the Business & Commercial Department in responding to customer inquiries and managing contract modifications.
• Document and apply lessons learned to drive continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• Deep understanding and enthusiasm for advanced engineering and project management in challenging environments.
• Ability to rapidly grasp and analyze technical systems and functions within multidisciplinary contexts.
• Strong leadership and collaborative skills to work effectively with diverse, international engineering teams.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities to manage relationships with clients, industrial partners, and subcontractors constructively.
• Fluent English proficiency with strong written communication skills.
• Master’s degree in Engineering (EPF equivalent) or HES qualification, with a focus on project management.
• Over five years of experience managing projects involving space structures, mechanisms, or similarly complex systems.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ECSS standards and other space-related regulations.
• Interest in learning French.
• German language skills are advantageous.
