OPENGIS.ch seeks a Mid-level Python Full-Stack Engineer to lead the development of Georama, an open-source geospatial platform built on Django and QGIS, working remotely from Switzerland.
This position centers on the evolution of Georama, a QGIS-based open-source platform designed for publishing geospatial data. The successful candidate will join a distributed team of specialists to deliver tailored geodata solutions, taking ownership of the product's roadmap and technical execution.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term strategic direction and feature roadmap for the Georama platform.
- Architect and implement core features across both the front-end and back-end layers.
- Build, test, and sustain the application using Django, Python, and contemporary web standards.
- Monitor and enhance application performance, ensuring high quality and responsive user experiences.
- Diagnose system bottlenecks and resolve software defects to maintain stability.
- Uphold code standards, improve project organization, and support automation efforts.
- Participate in and contribute to open-source communities related to the core technology stack.
- Optimize deployment workflows, including Docker containers and GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide technical advisory and support to clients regarding platform deployment and usage.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in Django and Python within a full-stack development context.
- Solid proficiency in front-end technologies, specifically JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Hands-on experience with Docker (Compose), Git version control, and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- Fluent command of the English language for professional communication.
Nice to have
- A track record of open-source engagement, such as contributing code, patches, or active community participation.
- Knowledge of geospatial principles, web GIS applications, or the QGIS ecosystem.
- Background in DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipeline management, containerization, and deployment strategies.
- Additional language capabilities in German and/or French.
