OPENGIS.ch seeks a Mid-level DevOps Engineer to design secure infrastructure and optimize CI/CD pipelines for scalable geospatial solutions in a fully remote setting.
This position focuses on constructing and managing robust, automated infrastructure that supports the rapid and stable release of applications. The engineer will enhance system resilience, streamline deployment workflows, and ensure the reliability of services across diverse environments.
Responsibilities
- Create and sustain infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
- Automate the provisioning, configuration, and deployment of systems.
- Oversee containerized environments and orchestration tools.
- Build internal tools to support automation efforts.
- Design, implement, and refine CI/CD pipelines for efficient delivery.
- Enhance deployment speed, reliability, and rollback mechanisms.
- Administer Linux (Ubuntu LTS) systems, including security hardening and patching.
- Standardize and deploy software across various environments, including on-premises hardware.
- Establish and improve monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
- Manage PostgreSQL databases, focusing on performance tuning and backups.
- Execute and test backup and recovery procedures to maintain data integrity.
- Apply security best practices throughout infrastructure and pipelines.
- Proactively detect and resolve performance or reliability issues.
- Maintain accurate and current technical documentation.
- Collaborate with development and support teams to troubleshoot problems.
- Manage tasks effectively and communicate progress and blockers clearly.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or System Administration.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting languages such as Bash.
- Extensive experience with Docker and containerized environments.
- Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, OpenTofu, or Ansible.
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems, particularly Ubuntu.
- Experience administering PostgreSQL databases.
- Familiarity with monitoring stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
- Competence with Git and CI/CD platforms, specifically GitHub Actions.
- Solid understanding of system security, networking, and reliability principles.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems.
