Bachem seeks a QA Shopfloor Manager in Bubendorf to lead quality assurance on the production floor, ensuring GxP compliance and driving continuous improvement within a dynamic team.
This position integrates quality assurance directly into the manufacturing environment. The role is designed to strengthen existing capabilities by providing fresh perspectives and fostering a motivated team culture. The primary goal is to enhance operational quality practices through proactive support and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to guarantee compliant manufacturing processes that align with scheduled timelines.
- Serve as the main liaison between quality assurance and production teams, facilitating quick decision-making and immediate problem resolution.
- Coordinate across various QA departments to provide consistent support to manufacturing units and prepare accurate responses to customer inquiries.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal protocols and GxP standards to promote first-time accuracy and minimize operational delays.
- Manage investigations for deviations and non-conformances, overseeing root cause analysis, corrective actions, and timely case closure.
- Streamline quality assessments and ensure high-standard documentation for all quality-related activities.
- Represent the QA department in daily and weekly shop floor meetings to address risks and encourage solution-focused thinking.
- Lead efforts to improve quality performance, reduce waste, and increase overall operational efficiency.
- Cultivate a shop floor culture where accountability and quality are viewed as key enablers for success.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field, accompanied by relevant industry experience.
- At least five years of professional experience in API manufacturing, ideally within a CDMO setting.
- Proven expertise in quality assurance with hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations.
- Solid understanding of GMP, regulatory standards, and ALCOA+ principles.
- Fluency in both written and spoken German and English.
Nice to have
- Experience or a strong willingness to learn Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
- A keen interest in manufacturing processes and modern operational QA best practices.
- Familiarity with quality systems, including deviation handling, CAPA, and change control procedures.
