Swiss AviationSoftware, a Lufthansa Technik subsidiary, seeks a Senior Release Manager to lead end-to-end release management for AMOS and related solutions. The role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, improving release processes, and ensuring reliable, scalable software delivery in a hybrid work environment.

Swiss AviationSoftware, a 100% subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik, drives digital transformation in aviation technical asset operations through its flagship product AMOS. The Release Manager will strengthen software delivery across AMOS, web, mobile, and integrated solutions by leading release strategy, governance, and execution. This role requires strategic oversight and operational execution to support the company’s growing product landscape and customer commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the release strategy and schedule for AMOS, web, mobile, and integrated solutions.
  • Own and enhance release management processes, governance, and documentation standards.
  • Align release practices with business goals, customer needs, operational demands, and quality benchmarks.
  • Set up and manage release governance, including versioning, documentation, approval workflows, and readiness criteria.
  • Define policies for patches, hotfixes, rollbacks, emergency releases, and end-of-life support.
  • Ensure release processes meet scalability, quality, security, and operational resilience requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise software releases across all product lines.
  • Support regular patch and maintenance release activities.
  • Oversee completion of release artifacts, including release notes, deployment pipelines, app store submissions, and stakeholder communications.
  • Lead release weeks and major release events, ensuring cross-team alignment.
  • Coordinate customer involvement in validation, beta testing, and release acceptance.
  • Serve as the central contact for release-related communication, escalations, and decisions.
  • Track release status using dashboards, reports, and management metrics.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, blockers, and mitigation plans throughout the release cycle.
  • Assess, prioritize, and validate process improvements for release management and software delivery.
  • Implement tooling and automation for deployment, release tracking, ticketing workflows, reporting, and compliance.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Release Management, Delivery Management, Project Management, or similar roles in enterprise software development.
  • Solid grasp of software development lifecycles (Agile, Scrum, Kanban), quality assurance, release governance, change management, and risk management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities, with experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment methods, version control systems (Git/SVN), issue tracking tools, and release automation.
  • Analytical and process-focused mindset, with a track record of identifying improvement areas, using metrics, and driving optimization and automation.
