A mid-level Research Associate role focused on in vivo nonmalignant hematology studies within a leading pharmaceutical firm in Basel. The position requires hands-on animal study experience and expertise in molecular assays.

This position supports a prestigious pharmaceutical company by conducting in vivo research into nonmalignant hematology. The successful candidate will manage experimental workflows, from design to analysis, contributing to the evaluation of novel gene therapy assets.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out various in vivo procedures, such as intravenous injections, blood and plasma sampling, and models for bleeding or thrombosis.
  • Evaluate the safety and efficacy of new gene therapy candidates using molecular and biochemical techniques, including ELISA, thrombin generation, and chromogenic assays on murine and human samples.
  • Process and test patient-derived blood and plasma samples in both in vitro and ex vivo contexts.
  • Analyze experimental data and share findings with the broader team.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, support lab organization, and manage inventory and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • A BSc or MSc in Life Sciences (such as molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, or coagulation) combined with 2-3 years of practical animal study experience; PhD holders are not considered.
  • Alternatively, a completed apprenticeship as a Research Associate ('Lehrabschluss') along with 4-5 years of relevant academic or industry experience.
  • Possession of an active LTK1 certification (FELASA or equivalent).
  • Proven practical skills in rodent handling, specifically intravenous injections and blood collection.
  • Strong capability in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Ability to independently lead in vivo studies from initiation to completion.
  • Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

  • Background in animal surgery.
  • Familiarity with or experience in coagulation and/or gene therapy.
  • Practical experience with molecular and biochemical assays like ELISA, thrombin generation, or chromogenic tests.
  • Previous work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
