Terra Quantum seeks a Mid-level Researcher to join its AI Applied Research team, focusing on hybrid quantum-classical algorithms and practical software solutions in a remote setting.
As part of Terra Quantum's AI Applied Research team, this position bridges theoretical discovery and engineering. The successful candidate will translate advanced research concepts into functional algorithmic software, specifically guiding the creation and deployment of hybrid quantum-classical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build quantum machine learning algorithms tailored for various data processing needs.
- Investigate and evaluate the latest advancements in quantum machine learning methodologies.
- Analyze how parametrized quantum circuits learn through hybrid optimization loops involving classical and quantum components.
- Enhance the training efficiency of parametrized quantum circuits using techniques such as layerwise batch-entropy regularization.
- Provide clear interpretations and explanations for quantum machine learning models.
- Draft and submit research papers for publication in scientific journals.
- Run quantum machine learning algorithms on Quantum Processing Units (QPUs).
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the company’s quantum machine learning software development kit (SDK).
- Collaborate on identifying potential applications of quantum machine learning to solve specific industry challenges for clients.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience with at least one quantum programming framework, such as Qiskit, Pennylane, or Cirq.
- Proven background in developing or working with variational quantum algorithms for machine learning tasks.
- Solid experience applying classical machine learning algorithms.
- Fundamental proficiency in Python, along with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Strong written and spoken English skills.
- Legal authorization to reside and work within the European Union or Switzerland.
Nice to have
- Prior experience operating on Quantum Processing Units (QPUs).
- Understanding of quantum information theory.
- Knowledge of Tensor-Network techniques.
