Scientist (m/f/x) – Cell Biology and Gene Editing

CSL Behring Vifor seeks a mid-level Scientist for a one-year contract to develop in vitro models and gene editing assays for cardiovascular and renal research within the Mechanistic Pharmacology team.

This temporary position supports the Mechanistic Pharmacology team in Translational Research by creating and applying human in vitro models, functional assays, and gene editing techniques. The role aims to characterize the mode of action for novel therapeutic candidates in cardiovascular and renal fields.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement human in vitro models and functional assay workflows to aid translational research initiatives.
• Produce high-quality experimental data to define how new therapeutic candidates work in cardiovascular and renal contexts.
• Independently execute human cell culture, transfection, gene editing, and assay procedures while ensuring scientific rigor, reproducibility, and data integrity.
• Help design, optimize, and refine experimental methods and assay performance.
• Analyze and interpret experimental outcomes, then clearly communicate findings to project teams and stakeholders.
• Keep precise records of experimental work and assist in implementing laboratory best practices and quality standards.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and help maintain a safe, organized, and collaborative workspace.
• Collaborate closely with scientists across various projects and functions in a team-oriented research environment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical laboratory experience.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on laboratory experience in cell biology, with strong expertise in human cell culture (e.g., HUVECs) and transfection methods.
• Practical experience using CRISPR-based gene editing techniques.
• Proficiency in molecular biology methods, including RT-qPCR, immunoassays, and Western blotting.
• Fluent written and spoken English skills.

Nice to have

• Prior experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Familiarity with imaging-based experimental techniques.
