Senior Accountant

The company seeks a Senior Accountant in Zürich to manage statutory accounting and reporting for the Swiss entity while supporting the Finance Manager. The role focuses on compliance, audit coordination, and financial closing within a hybrid work model.

This position serves as the deputy to the Finance Manager Switzerland, playing a key part in the company's mission to transform waste into valuable resources like energy and fertilizer. The accountant will oversee financial accuracy and compliance for the Swiss legal entity, ensuring alignment with global standards and supporting leadership through process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete accounting cycle for the Swiss entity, guaranteeing precision, regulatory adherence, and readiness for audits.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Shared Service Center, monitoring the quality of accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and travel expenses.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes according to Group schedules.
  • Verify general ledger entries, accruals, provisions, intercompany reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Draft statutory financial statements that comply with Swiss Code of Obligations, IFRS, and internal Group policies.
  • Act as the main liaison for external auditors, organizing audit processes and implementing corrective measures.
  • Maintain robust internal controls, adhere to Delegation of Authority and Segregation of Duties principles, and ensure high-quality audit documentation.
  • Support the Finance Manager Switzerland in leadership tasks, process optimization, and collaboration with Controlling and Group Finance teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in statutory accounting, IFRS, and Swiss Code of Obligations.
  • Proven track record of managing accounting outcomes within a Shared Service Center environment.
  • Hands-on experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting.
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing, and signing statutory financial statements and managing external audits.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance frameworks, Delegation of Authority, and Segregation of Duties.
  • Experience working in ERP-driven environments, with IFS being preferred.
  • Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Fluent proficiency in both English and German.
