Nexthink seeks a Senior AI Engineer in Lausanne to lead the design and deployment of scalable, production-grade AI systems and LLM-powered applications within its cloud platform.

This position focuses on taking AI capabilities from initial prototyping through to mature, scalable production systems, ensuring architectural excellence and robust operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain high-performance AI and machine learning systems, including large language model applications, natural language processing models, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and multi-agent architectures.
- Lead critical architectural choices regarding model selection, training methodologies, fine-tuning approaches, retrieval strategies, orchestration layers, and underlying infrastructure.
- Integrate third-party AI services and large language model providers into the company’s cloud ecosystem.
- Establish comprehensive evaluation frameworks for both online and offline performance, defining clear success metrics for AI systems.
- Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards to track system quality and identify regressions in live environments.
- Create automated evaluation pipelines to assess prompts, embeddings, models, and agent workflows.
- Implement and sustain reproducible machine learning pipelines alongside continuous integration and deployment workflows for AI components.
- Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management of models and AI artifacts in production.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, software engineers, and data scientists to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Mentor and guide junior AI engineers on best practices for building and operating production-grade systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping and operating cloud services in production.
- Proven hands-on experience developing LLM-powered applications or other machine learning and natural language processing solutions.
- High proficiency in Python and major AI frameworks.
- Deep understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including supervised and unsupervised learning, optimization techniques, and model evaluation.
- Experience working with NLP systems such as embeddings, semantic search, retrieval mechanisms, and text classification.
- Practical experience integrating and operating large language models, including prompting, evaluation, observability, RAG, and agentic workflows.
- Strong MLOps background, including reproducible pipelines, experiment tracking, automated evaluation, and CI/CD for models and prompts.
- Demonstrated experience with AWS and cloud-based AI deployments.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Extensive experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms for building scalable AI infrastructure.
- Background in optimizing models for latency, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Experience in fine-tuning large language models.
- Familiarity with multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks.
