Artefact Group Switzerland SA seeks a Senior AI Engineer / Technical Consultant in Lausanne to lead AI engineering and client advisory, combining technical delivery with strategic stakeholder management.

This position sits at the intersection of advanced AI engineering and high-level strategy consulting. The successful candidate will guide multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of AI initiatives, from initial opportunity framing and proof-of-concept development to secure, scalable production deployment. The role demands a balance of deep technical execution and the ability to translate complex business goals into actionable technical roadmaps for senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end solutions covering data pipelines, ML/LLM models, APIs, and security, while making informed build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Drive projects from initial proof-of-concept through to production, ensuring measurable business impact and managing risks and trade-offs.
  • Scope, prototype, and validate AI use cases, including LLMs, GenAI, RAG, and fine-tuning, converting successful pilots into scalable products.
  • Develop, adapt, and evaluate machine learning and deep learning models using Python, incorporating prompt engineering, LoRA, vector search, and safety guardrails.
  • Design and operate cloud-based solutions on Azure, GCP, or AWS, managing CI/CD, containers, model serving, feature stores, and monitoring pipelines.
  • Translate business objectives into technical strategies, presenting findings to senior stakeholders and ensuring clear documentation.
  • Enforce best practices regarding data privacy, model risk management, responsible AI, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Coach engineers and consultants, conduct code and design reviews, and contribute to delivery standards and reusable accelerators.
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals, estimates, statements of work, and external publications or talks.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in data, ML, or AI engineering, with a proven track record of delivering production AI systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and solid software engineering practices, including testing, packaging, and CI/CD.
  • Strong SQL skills are required.
  • Hands-on experience with ML/DL and LLMs, including prompting, fine-tuning/LoRA, embeddings, RAG, evaluation, observability, and guardrails.
  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, GCP, or AWS) for deploying secure and scalable services.
  • Fluency in both French and English, written and spoken, is mandatory.
  • Eligibility to work in Switzerland is required.

  • Experience with responsible AI governance frameworks, security reviews, and cost optimization strategies.
  • Domain expertise in industries such as retail, pharma, manufacturing, or finance.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, publications, or conference talks.
  • Proficiency in Java, Scala, or TypeScript.
