Senior Payroll & Compensation Specialist

Swissquote seeks a Senior Payroll & Compensation Specialist in Gland, CH, to manage end-to-end payroll operations and drive process automation and strategic improvements.

This position is responsible for overseeing the complete monthly payroll cycle while also contributing to the development of a robust compensation and benefits framework. The role blends operational payroll management with a strategic approach to enhance processes and implement automation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire monthly payroll cycle, guaranteeing precision, regulatory adherence, and on-time delivery.
  • Process various payroll inputs such as variable pay, absences, and employee status changes.
  • Conduct payroll controls and perform necessary reconciliations.
  • Manage payroll-related accounting entries, including monthly and annual closings, in coordination with the finance department.
  • Maintain compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and social security mandates.
  • Serve as the primary contact for any payroll-related inquiries.
  • Supervise and validate payroll processes for international entities, working alongside local HR partners and payroll providers.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for all payroll activities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll and HR processes.
  • Lead automation initiatives to boost efficiency and minimize manual tasks.
  • Document and standardize payroll and compensation procedures.
  • Partner with HRIS teams to refine systems and workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in payroll, preferably in an international or fast-paced setting.
  • Deep understanding of payroll processes, accounting principles, and compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of Swiss payroll practices and Swiss labor laws and regulations.
  • Experience with payroll systems and HRIS.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • High level of accuracy and reliability.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and external providers.
  • Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex topics clearly.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Compensation & Benefits topics (benchmarking, salary structures, bonus schemes) is a strong plus.
