Senior Platform Product Designer

SOPHiA GENETICS seeks a Senior Platform Product Designer in Rolle, CH, to lead design for its DDM platform serving clinical experts in genomics and oncology.

This senior individual contributor role focuses on solving complex, cross-cutting design challenges within the SOPHiA DDM platform. The position is designed to serve expert users in genomics, oncology, imaging, and real-world data within clinical settings, with a clear trajectory toward team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research with diverse expert groups, including geneticists, pathologists, bioinformaticians, oncologists, and pharma researchers.
  • Create designs that accommodate the cognitive models and high-pressure environments of expert users in clinical settings.
  • Ensure clinical workflow fidelity while adhering to IVD regulatory requirements, such as maintaining traceability and audit trails.
  • Lead the design of major platform workflows, including variant triage, oncology decision support, and multimodal data views.
  • Define and refine cross-surface interaction patterns to maintain coherence across the platform.
  • Collaborate with engineering to govern and evolve the DDM design system.
  • Develop interactive prototypes to accelerate the feedback loop between concept and clinical validation.
  • Facilitate early and continuous validation sessions with clinical users, oncologists, and pharma partners.
  • Bridge the gap between design and engineering languages to improve team velocity.
  • Partner with Product Owners and Managers to shape a shared vision across application teams.
  • Prepare for leadership by mentoring junior designers and helping to shape team processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a senior product or platform designer in regulated sectors like HealthTech, MedTech, or scientific software.
  • A portfolio demonstrating shipped work that highlights product judgment, handling of difficult trade-offs, and evidence of influencing product direction.
  • Experience designing complex, data-heavy interfaces, including tables, filters, and multi-step workflows.
  • Ability to work closely with code, write detailed requirements, and build prototypes that go beyond static mockups.
  • Prior hands-on technical experience in development or product development.
  • A solid understanding of AI/ML in clinical contexts and experience extending AI/ML features in regulated products.
