ZHAW seeks a Senior Scientist and Lecturer to lead research on perovskite solar cells and optoelectronic modeling, with future teaching duties in physics or mathematics.
This position sits within the Novel Semiconductor Devices Team at the Institute of Computational Physics. The primary focus is conducting research on perovskite solar cells, including their optoelectronic characterization and modeling. The appointee will actively contribute to the research group, assist the team leader, and eventually take responsibility for teaching physics or mathematics courses.
Responsibilities
- Secure research funding and manage projects independently.
- Oversee the execution and management of research initiatives.
- Publish and present findings from research activities.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision for PhD candidates.
- Coordinate and supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis projects.
- Maintain and manage laboratory infrastructure.
Requirements
- A PhD in materials science, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Several years of applied research experience in novel semiconductors, demonstrated through publications and successful project acquisition.
- Excellent proficiency in English.
- Strong ability and enthusiasm for writing project proposals and securing funding.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A genuine interest in participating in teaching activities.
Nice to have
- Specialized knowledge in optoelectronic characterization and modeling of perovskite solar cells.
- Hands-on experience with atomic force microscopy, including electrical modes such as cAFM and KPFM.
- Background in the chemistry of novel semiconductor materials.
- Experience in structural and surface analysis using electron microscopy or advanced simulation methods.
- German language skills are advantageous.
- A strong network within the European research community or connections with regional companies.
