CSEM seeks a senior Group Leader for Coatings for Energy Devices in Neuchâtel to direct a high-performing battery and coatings research team, aligning scientific work with industrial impact and market strategy.
This position directs a specialized group focused on battery and coatings materials, ensuring the team maintains strong research standards while delivering measurable industrial results. The role reports directly to the Business Unit Leader and is responsible for bridging scientific innovation with market needs.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a top-tier team dedicated to applied research, ensuring robust infrastructure, safety protocols, and excellence in securing funding.
- Collaborate with business development to craft a market-driven strategy that yields a mix of public and industry projects, intellectual property, and tangible industrial outcomes.
- Secure a stable financial base for the group by obtaining both industry-sponsored and publicly funded projects.
- Enhance research productivity by investing in automation and machine learning to speed up experimental learning cycles.
- Foster a constructive workplace by collaborating effectively with internal departments and external partners.
Requirements
- Hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline or possess an exceptional reputation within the battery research community.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in battery materials, with the authority to guide both scientific direction and industrial application.
- Show a track record of successfully acquiring and overseeing industry and public projects related to batteries.
- Prove ability to build high-performing teams, mentor talent, and cultivate a culture of excellence.
- Communicate fluently in English.
