Senior Software Engineer - Billing

Perk Yokoy seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Billing Team to lead tax, invoicing, and payment systems. The role combines deep technical architecture with product leadership and AI-driven development in a hybrid setup in Switzerland.

This position sits within the Billing Team, which is responsible for tax determination, invoice issuance, collection, and deferred payments. The team is actively modernizing these areas by integrating third-party tax services, shifting invoice issuance to an asynchronous model, and applying AI to automate collections. The engineer will take full ownership of a specific domain, collaborating closely with an engaged team that prioritizes collective success.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete feature lifecycle, from identifying customer needs and designing solutions to deployment and impact measurement.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering Managers to define quarterly objectives and contribute to the long-term technical vision.
• Create detailed design documents for significant platform changes and actively manage technical debt to maintain high quality.
• Facilitate alignment across multiple teams by clearly communicating complex technical concepts and organizational goals.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, direct guidance, and demonstrating strong engineering practices.
• Utilize AI tools and agentic workflows for daily tasks, including feature specification, coding, reviewing, and automated pull request checks.

Requirements

• Translate complex business objectives into clear technical roadmaps and mitigate risks in ambiguous projects.
• Design scalable, evolvable system architectures and data models that ensure performance, failure isolation, and ease of maintenance.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, including CI/CD improvements, testing strategies, and coding conventions.
• Define frontend architecture patterns, state management approaches, performance budgets, and testing protocols.
• Build sophisticated backend solutions involving API versioning, caching, and complex data migration strategies.
• Lead observability and SRE practices, including defining SLOs, managing incidents, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
• Oversee operational security, including secrets management and dependency risk assessment.
• Elevate the engineering team through mentorship, leading design reviews, and influencing product direction.
• Coordinate multi-team deliverables and align stakeholders to remove technical blockers.
• Demonstrate experience or strong interest in AI-augmented development, including agentic workflows and AI-powered code reviews.
