Senior Specialist - Payments & Risks

Onrunning seeks a Senior Specialist - Payments & Risks in Zürich, CH, to oversee end-to-end payment operations for its retail business, ensuring transaction integrity, system uptime, and alignment between tech and finance teams.

This role safeguards the payment flow that powers Onrunning’s retail operations, ensuring seamless transactions from point-of-sale to merchant bank accounts. It acts as the operational backbone, maintaining system integrity and enabling business growth through reliable, scalable payment infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Track transactions from POS hardware to merchant bank accounts, verifying processing cycles are completed correctly.
• Manage payment gateways and processing portals as the primary administrator, handling user roles and permissions for retail and finance teams.
• Oversee the setup and lifecycle of Merchant IDs and terminals, ensuring new stores are onboarded properly and existing systems are optimized.
• Serve as the link between Retail Tech and Finance, ensuring technical configurations support accurate financial reporting.
• Analyze large datasets to monitor transaction health, detect processing delays, identify root causes, and track fees for cost efficiency.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience managing payment platforms, gateway back-offices, or merchant acquiring portals, including complex admin interfaces.
• In-depth knowledge of payment systems, including acquirers, processors, and card schemes.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate between hardware engineers and finance professionals on operational changes.
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis to detect issues in transaction logs or settlement reports.
• Clear understanding of business workflows and how payment operations impact overall P&L.
