Proton seeks a Mid-level Site Reliability Engineer in Geneva to support its global infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across thousands of servers. The role involves automation, monitoring, and on-call support for critical systems including Kubernetes and network services.
You will join the Infrastructure Systems team, responsible for delivering foundational platforms such as Kubernetes, VM orchestration, and bare metal provisioning, along with essential services like DNS, DHCP, and monitoring. Your work will ensure the stability and scalability of Proton’s global infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve the performance of Proton’s global network of thousands of servers.
- Create and maintain automation systems to maintain 99.95%+ uptime for infrastructure services.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve complex technical issues across diverse network environments, including censorship-affected regions.
- Build and refine monitoring and alerting tools to provide real-time insights into infrastructure health.
- Design solutions to enhance connectivity, stability, performance, security, and resilience, especially in challenging network conditions.
Requirements
- Understanding of Linux internals, networking stack, and kernel tuning.
- Proven experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Python for writing automation scripts and operational tools.
- Ability to design highly available, scalable, and distributed system architectures.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana dashboards.
- Familiarity with security best practices for infrastructure systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with bare metal provisioning.
- Background in on-premise cloud solutions.
