Soverli AG seeks a Mid-level Software Engineer for GPU Driver development in Zürich. The role focuses on graphics and compute foundations for secure multi-OS smartphone environments, requiring strong C/C++ skills and Linux graphics architecture knowledge.

This position centers on building the core graphics and compute infrastructure for secure, multi-operating system smartphone environments. The engineer will design and optimize GPU drivers, memory subsystems, and rendering pipelines specifically tailored for ARM Mali-based platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain virtualizable kernel-space and user-space GPU drivers for ARM Mali hardware.
  • Develop and refine GPU hardware abstraction layers (HALs) alongside memory management systems.
  • Integrate with Linux graphics components such as DRM/KMS, Mesa, Gallium, Vulkan, and OpenGL ES.
  • Analyze and enhance GPU performance for both rendering and compute tasks.
  • Troubleshoot intricate GPU challenges related to shaders, synchronization, rendering pipelines, and memory issues.
  • Support testing and continuous integration workflows for GPU driver modules.
  • Partner with firmware, kernel, driver, and Android graphics teams to ensure seamless end-to-end GPU system integration.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming and low-level debugging techniques.
  • Demonstrated history of working on GPU or graphics driver projects.
  • Solid grasp of Linux graphics architecture, including DRM/KMS and Mesa.
  • Knowledge of ARM Mali architectures like Utgard, Midgard, Bifrost, and Valhall.
  • Experience utilizing Vulkan/OpenGL ES and understanding GPU memory and synchronization models.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux systems and AArch64 environments.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent English proficiency paired with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Nice to have

  • Prior contributions to open-source GPU initiatives, such as Mesa or Panfrost.
  • Background in shader compilation toolchains or compute APIs.
  • Awareness of Virtio-GPU or GPU virtualization concepts.
  • Insight into Android graphics framework internals.
