Google seeks a mid-level Software Engineer in Zürich to lead end-to-end development of search advertising systems, focusing on AI model training and deployment.
This position is part of the team responsible for building Google’s advertising products, including search, display, shopping, travel, and video ads, as well as analytics tools. The engineer will tackle critical business challenges by designing, implementing, and optimizing next-generation technologies that impact billions of users. The role offers the chance to work on a specific high-impact project with the flexibility to transition to different teams or initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from the initial concept through design, analysis, and final implementation.
- Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models to address key business objectives.
- Investigate new model architectures, enhance training datasets, improve evaluation methods, and identify areas for performance gains.
- Monitor production systems, visualize metrics, and optimize overall performance.
- Keep current with industry tools and research, collaborating actively with team members.
- Design, code, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Three years of software development experience using C++ and Python, or one year with an advanced degree.
- Two years of experience with machine learning tools and algorithms, specifically deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) and deep learning models.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Two years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- One year of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and Generative AI.
