The company seeks a Senior Specialist in Macronutrient Physiology to advance research on nutrient metabolism and translate scientific insights into actionable dietary recommendations and health solutions.
This position sits within the Metabolic Health team at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences. The primary objective is to deliver specialized scientific knowledge regarding nutrition physiology, thereby supporting the creation of health-focused nutritional products and converting complex biological findings into practical dietary strategies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead cross-functional research to deepen the understanding of how macro- and micronutrients are metabolized and assessed for quality.
- Evaluate clinical and pre-clinical datasets to establish connections between dietary intake and metabolic processes, formulating robust hypotheses and mechanistic explanations.
- Enhance scientific validation of nutrient quality by shifting focus from observed correlations to identifying causal mechanisms and physiological pathways across diverse populations and life stages.
- Create and participate in the development of novel nutrient-based interventions, methodologies, and research frameworks that drive innovation.
- Convert research findings into practical recommendations, innovation inputs, and intellectual property strategies that align with research and development goals.
- Build internal and external networks through publications, presentations, and partnerships to enhance scientific credibility and accelerate the impact of research outcomes.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD and possess 4–6 years of scientific experience focused on macro- and micronutrient quality, metabolism, and their relationship to dietary recommendations or human physiology.
- Apply knowledge of clinical trials and nutrition interventions to strengthen mechanistic evidence and translate results into clear guidance for product development or communication.
- Utilize systems biology approaches and data interpretation capabilities to link dietary contexts, metabolic processes, and downstream health outcomes.
- Work effectively within an academic-industry setting to align stakeholders, direct contributions, and achieve shared objectives.
- Demonstrate fluent proficiency in English.
