Sustainability Reporting & Communications Project Officer (OSI-ICS-2026-125-GRAP)

The company seeks an Entry Level Sustainability Reporting & Communications Project Officer in Geneva. The role focuses on delivering sustainability reports, managing communications, and supporting the organization's sustainability strategy within an international scientific environment.

This position sits within the Sustainability Office of the Organisational Support & Improvement team. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute the Sustainability Reporting Project workstream. The role also aids in shaping the organization's long-term sustainability strategy and promotes cultural change through targeted awareness campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the end-to-end production of the 2025-2026 Sustainability Report, from initial planning to final publication, while preparing for the next reporting cycle.
• Draft and refine social and governance sections of the report, ensuring high-quality writing that meets GRI standards for accuracy and clarity.
• Monitor project schedules and timelines to guarantee adherence to documented approval workflows.
• Create compelling content tailored to various platforms and audiences, including web pages, social media posts, and short articles.
• Help design and build an internal e-learning course focused on sustainability topics.
• Assist in organizing and executing sustainability-focused events and awareness campaigns.
• Monitor changes in regulations and reporting frameworks such as GRI, CSRD, and ESRS to keep the organization's ESG approach current.

Requirements

• Prior experience writing sustainability or ESG reports for corporations, NGOs, research bodies, or public sector entities, or working in an advisory role.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple workstreams against strict deadlines within a governed environment.
• Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• A Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of relevant professional experience, or a PhD with up to 3 years of post-graduation experience, in Sustainability, Communications, or a related discipline.
• Must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Nice to have

• Background in creating and executing communications strategies and outreach initiatives.
• Familiarity with digital content management platforms and managing web content for sustainability microsites.
• Experience working in scientific, academic, or intergovernmental organizations.
• Proficiency in French.
• Understanding of GRI, CSRD/ESRS frameworks, or skills in data visualization and infographic design.
