SPIRE AG seeks a Technical Accounting Manager to lead U.S. GAAP compliance, revenue accounting, and consolidation for its global satellite operations.
This position serves as the technical accounting authority for SPIRE AG, ensuring rigorous adherence to U.S. GAAP standards across complex financial transactions. The manager oversees revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidations, and external audit interactions, acting as a key liaison between finance, legal, and sales teams to support the company's space-to-cloud analytics business.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and implement complex U.S. GAAP rules, specifically ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 810, and ASC 718.
- Draft clear technical accounting memos that justify conclusions for non-routine or intricate transactions.
- Track new accounting developments and evaluate their effect on financial reporting and disclosures.
- Create and update corporate accounting policies to align with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Finance during contract reviews to identify performance obligations and determine correct revenue treatment.
- Enhance internal controls, documentation, and analytical processes surrounding revenue reporting.
- Manage accurate accounting for intercompany eliminations, foreign currency fluctuations, equity investments, and non-controlling interests.
- Prepare financial statement disclosures in compliance with Form 10-Q and 10-K requirements during quarterly and annual closes.
- Handle specialized compliance tasks, including U.S. State & Local Tax (SALT) filings, tariff reconciliations, and corporate statistical surveys.
- Design and maintain standardized accounting workflows and internal controls that meet SOX requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams on finance projects, ERP system improvements, and M&A integration efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Active CPA license.
- At least six years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong background in public accounting, preferably from a Big 4 or national firm.
- Proven expertise in ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 810, and technical memo writing.
- Experience managing complex multi-element revenue arrangements.
- Ability to translate complex GAAP standards into practical guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in publicly traded, high-growth, or international business environments.
- Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and IFRS standards.
- Hands-on experience with mid-market ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
