Molecular Partners seeks a Senior Accounting Manager in Schlieren to lead financial reporting, close processes, and team development within its Finance department.

This position sits within the Finance team and reports directly to the Director of Accounting & Controlling. The primary objective is to guarantee the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of all accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on hands-on execution of daily financial tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles to ensure timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Audit journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses to verify adherence to internal standards, Swiss GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and innovation to streamline business workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements along with documentation ready for audit review.
  • Oversee subsidiary monthly closings to maintain data accuracy across the group.
  • Mentor accounting staff by providing constructive feedback and supporting their professional growth.
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the SOX team to validate the effectiveness of controls in key accounting areas.
  • Facilitate external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and addressing identified issues.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and assist in applying new accounting standards.
  • Ensure all accounting activities comply with corporate policies, regulatory mandates, and industry best practices.
  • Handle VAT compliance tasks and submissions in line with current regulations.

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent certification such as a CPA.
  • At least eight years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
  • Solid knowledge of Swiss GAAP FER and/or IFRS, alongside internal control frameworks.
  • Proven experience in group accounting and consolidation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close procedures and prepare financial statements.
  • Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors.
  • Proficiency in German or Swiss German.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI, and Workiva.
