Zurich Instruments seeks a Senior Technical Buyer in Zürich to manage procurement for advanced test and measurement instruments, ensuring supply chain efficiency and supporting R&D activities.
As a key member of the procurement team, this role ensures the steady flow of materials required for high-precision electronic instruments. The position supports both production and research efforts by managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory, and facilitating new product development within a technology-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing cycle, including issuing requests for quotes, creating purchase orders, and confirming orders with suppliers.
- Track delivery schedules closely and alert stakeholders immediately to any potential delays that could impact production or R&D timelines.
- Serve as the primary procurement contact for production, research and development, and other internal departments.
- Regularly review and adjust inventory levels to maintain optimal stock of necessary materials.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve existing purchasing processes.
- Provide procurement support during the New Product Development (NPD) phase to ensure timely availability of components.
Requirements
- A completed apprenticeship in a commercial or technical field with additional training in purchasing, business administration, or an engineering degree, combined with relevant procurement experience.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in procurement, preferably within the technical or electronic manufacturing sector.
- A solution-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach, demonstrating independence and conscientiousness in daily tasks.
- Strong technical aptitude to comprehend high-level product designs, technical challenges, and engineering solutions.
- Structured work habits, strong negotiation capabilities, and solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Proven experience working with ERP systems and managing standard procurement workflows.
- Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken German and English.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
