A senior engineer leads the design and optimization of industrial inkjet writing systems for next-generation digital printing platforms, bridging R&D innovation with real-world industrial application needs.
This position sits within the Research and Development team, where the primary mission is to develop advanced industrial inkjet printing technologies. The engineer serves as the technical owner for writing systems, which are central to digital printing platforms. The role demands a strong connection between technological development and the practical realities of industrial applications, ensuring that innovations are robust, reliable, and ready for production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and optimization of industrial inkjet writing systems.
- Establish and validate performance targets for printhead behavior, jetting stability, drop placement, image quality, fluid delivery, thermal management, and production robustness.
- Own the product lifecycle from initial concept through to final launch.
- Balance performance, quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability throughout the development process.
- Convert business requirements into reliable engineering solutions.
- Create physical and empirical models covering fluid dynamics, drop formation, and thermal behavior.
- Plan and conduct advanced experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
- Analyze experimental data to enhance system reliability and behavior.
- Spearhead root-cause analysis for complex, multi-disciplinary technical issues.
- Implement corrective actions across hardware, software, and material components.
- Provide technical support for product issues from the development phase through to field operations.
- Mentor and guide engineers in problem-solving techniques and innovative practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Physics, Electronics, Fluidics, Material Science, Print Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of eight years of professional experience in industrial inkjet, drop-on-demand (DoD), printing, coating, or fluid deposition technologies.
- Proven hands-on expertise with industrial inkjet writing systems, including printheads, waveform optimization, image quality assessment, fluid behavior analysis, and system integration.
- Demonstrated experience in system-level design, integration, and optimization of complex, multidisciplinary industrial systems.
- Background working in industrial production or application environments with strict reliability and uptime requirements.
- Strong analytical and experimental skill set, including proficiency in DOE, root-cause analysis, modeling, and data-driven engineering.
- Deep understanding of complex physical systems, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and system dynamics.
- Experience designing experimental setups, performing data analysis, and building predictive models.

- Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar software.
- Specific knowledge of inkjet or drop-on-demand system architectures.
