AI & Computer Vision Intern - Data augmentation

Harmattan AI seeks an AI & Computer Vision Intern to engineer a Generative AI pipeline for data augmentation, training robust perception systems for autonomous defense applications in Lausanne.

This internship supports Harmattan AI's mission to build autonomous and scalable defense systems. The position centers on developing an advanced Generative AI pipeline for data augmentation, which is essential for training highly robust perception systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex multi-pass diffusion pipeline to adapt scene contexts while ensuring physical realism.
• Enhance custom masking and high-resolution depth-patching algorithms to properly anchor small objects in 3D space and reduce generative artifacts.
• Produce large-scale augmented datasets and evaluate their effect on downstream model performance.
• Conduct experiments to assess how synthetic data inclusion and varying ratios enhance object detector accuracy, recall, and robustness.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field emphasizing Machine Learning.
• Solid grasp of CNN architectures, object detection frameworks, modern loss functions, and tracking challenges.
• Proficient in Python (PyTorch/TensorFlow) and comfortable working in C++.
• Experience with Linux environments; Git familiarity is beneficial.
• A rigorous debugging approach and an engineering-first mindset that prioritizes performance over theoretical complexity.
• Fluent in English; French proficiency is advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms and hardware-accelerated inference.
• FPV pilot experience or a hobbyist interest in UAVs.
• Prior work with synthetic data generation tools like NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Gazebo.
