Medtronic seeks an Intern in AI Vision for Equipment Development in Lausanne. This full-time onsite role supports the creation of manufacturing and inspection technologies for medical devices, requiring fluency in French and English.
This internship places you within the Equipment Development team in Tolochenaz, where you will assist in building next-generation manufacturing, testing, and inspection technologies. The position is designed to provide practical exposure to industrial vision systems, artificial intelligence, and automation while you collaborate with seasoned engineers to refine image acquisition and analysis methods.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and select industrial vision hardware components such as cameras, optics, and lighting setups.
- Help configure and integrate image acquisition tools and prototype vision systems.
- Develop image processing and AI algorithms using computer vision and machine learning techniques.
- Prepare datasets, test models, and analyze performance metrics to enhance defect detection and inspection precision.
- Create technical documentation, conduct feasibility studies, and present project findings to engineering stakeholders.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Vision, Industrial Informatics, Microtechnology, Robotics, Automation, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Fluent proficiency in both French and English.
- Basic to intermediate coding abilities in Python or C++.
- Understanding of core concepts in computer vision, image processing, or machine learning.
- Strong analytical reasoning and effective collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with AI or computer vision frameworks.
- Familiarity with industrial cameras, optics, or imaging systems.
- Background in research, academic, or personal projects involving AI, machine vision, or automation.
