Analyst, Business Controller

Coinbase seeks a Junior Business Controller Analyst to coordinate financial integrity for new crypto product launches, ensuring compliance and audit readiness across cross-functional teams.

This position acts as the primary driver for financial aspects of new product introductions. The analyst ensures that trade strategies and crypto offerings align with accounting, tax, and regulatory standards while facilitating smooth collaboration between finance, operations, and business units.

Responsibilities

• Work with business leaders and finance teams to assess new trading strategies, define financial needs, and manage implementation across accounting, tax, treasury, and operational departments.
• Act as a liaison for the business side, guiding stakeholders through the finance organization to minimize delays and ensure all necessary parties are consulted during product development.
• Create detailed records of fund movements, identify significant financial risks, and document accounting decisions, while providing regular progress reports to senior leadership.
• Design and deploy financial controls alongside process owners to mitigate risks, ensuring processes are effective and ready for audits and regulatory reviews.
• Partner with IT and external vendors to automate manual tasks and create scalable workflows that support the expansion of the product portfolio.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in finance, accounting, or controllership, with specific background in crypto exchanges, fintech, or financial services product operations.
• Possession of a CPA certification or active progress toward it, with strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally gained through Big 4 public accounting experience.
• Track record of coordinating across accounting, tax, legal, treasury, and operations to successfully launch products from initial scoping to deployment.
• Experience in identifying and implementing financial controls for new or changing business processes, including documenting fund flows and accounting treatments.
• Ability to use generative AI tools responsibly, maintaining human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance output quality.
