FMC International Switzerland Sárl seeks an Analytical Chemistry Manager to lead global analytical quality frameworks and establish the new Schaffhausen laboratory, with a focus on APAC operations.
The company is looking for a leader to define and manage its worldwide analytical quality standards for active ingredients and formulations. This role involves overseeing internal and toll manufacturing quality, with a specific emphasis on launching and operationalizing the new analytical laboratory in Schaffhausen while maintaining strong oversight of APAC activities.
Responsibilities
- Establish and uphold global standards for analytical quality, governance, and testing strategies across all manufacturing and toll production channels.
- Provide global oversight for toll manufacturing quality, ensuring consistent application of controls, methods, and quality requirements.
- Lead the design, setup, and operational launch of the new Schaffhausen analytical laboratory, including defining strategy, equipment needs, and capabilities.
- Drive technological advancement by evaluating, implementing, and improving analytical methods, technologies, and capital projects.
- Manage the full lifecycle of analytical methods, including development, validation, transfer, governance, and performance monitoring.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex analytical quality issues, supporting investigations, risk mitigation, and resolution across the network.
- Provide expert support for intellectual property, brand protection, customer, regulatory, and internal audit activities.
- Develop analytical quality teams through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing to foster scientific expertise and a culture of quality excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- At least 7 years of experience in analytical chemistry, quality control, or quality assurance within regulated manufacturing or R&D settings.
- Proven leadership in laboratory safety, with a track record of establishing safe working practices.
- Strong technical expertise in method development, validation, transfer, and troubleshooting using HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, IR spectroscopy, and titration.
- Experience supporting analytical technology transfer, preferably with external manufacturing partners.
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills, with a pragmatic, data-driven approach to problem solving.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex scientific principles in a global manufacturing and quality environment.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across functions, regions, and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and drive results in cross-functional and matrix organizations.
Nice to have
- Master’s or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
