BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. seeks an Associate Director for U.S. VOXZOGO marketing to lead brand strategy and execution in a competitive landscape. This senior, remote role focuses on driving growth and managing cross-functional teams.
The company is looking for a strategic leader to guide the U.S. marketing efforts for VOXZOGO during a pivotal phase of its product lifecycle. With new competitors entering the market and potential new indications on the horizon, this position is critical for maintaining brand strength. The successful candidate will coordinate closely with internal departments like Sales, Medical Affairs, and Corporate Communications, as well as external partners, to ensure the brand remains competitive and aligned with global objectives.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the U.S. brand strategy while contributing to the global strategic direction, ensuring franchise value is maximized amidst new market entrants.
- Monitor the competitive landscape to prepare for upcoming rival launches, integrating intelligence into marketing plans and cross-functional initiatives.
- Manage U.S. competitive readiness efforts, acting as the primary advocate for the U.S. perspective while collaborating with Global marketing teams.
- Define and execute the strategy for a priority customer segment, including determining the shift from current to future states, key messaging, tactics, channels, and performance metrics.
- Utilize the company’s digital infrastructure to create seamless omnichannel engagement experiences for customers.
- Drive measurable growth and retention outcomes in a highly competitive environment.
- Direct cross-functional teams and agency partners to implement the brand strategy effectively.
- Oversee and optimize significant marketing budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Partner with U.S. marketing colleagues on insights gathering, campaign development, and field communication strategies.
- Align with functional partners such as Sales, Medical, Access, and Corporate Communications to ensure unified strategy and messaging.
- Engage with key customers at medical congresses, advisory boards, and advocacy events, potentially overseeing the planning and execution of these activities.
- Work with the Business Insights & Analytics team to establish, track, and monitor KPIs that measure the impact of competitor launches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business or Life Sciences; an MBA is preferred.
- At least eight years of experience in commercial roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors, with a proven track record in competitive markets.
- Experience collaborating with creative agencies and promotional review teams (medical, regulatory, legal) to develop, launch, and optimize marketing campaigns.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with comfort handling complex and ambiguous situations.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of telling compelling stories and interacting effectively with senior leadership.
- Proven success navigating and influencing within a matrixed organizational structure.
- High level of accountability and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead teams, gain alignment, and drive decision-making processes.
- Self-motivated individual with energy and enthusiasm, offering a positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges.
- Passion for improving outcomes for both patients and the business.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
